Best Questions to Ask Before Getting Your Carpets Cleaned

When hiring a company to come into your house and perform a service it is important to know about them and their business. Asking questions and knowing the answers you should be getting is a great way to ensure that you are getting a reputable company. Here are a few question and answers from a reputable carpet cleaning company so you can ensure that only a professional company, like All Clean ChemDry, cleans your carpets.

How long should I wait between carpet cleanings?

Dirt is very abrasive, very much like sandpaper. When you walk on your carpets you grind the dirt into your carpet fibers. This can cut the fibers and wear them out. Regular vacuuming helps remove some of the dirt, but it does not get it all. We recommend getting your carpets cleaned every 12-18 months. This will help with the upkeep of your carpets and extend their life.

What else is being removed other than dirt when I get my carpets cleaned?

Outdoor air can contain hundreds of chemicals and pollutants, such as pollens, fungus, bacteria, air pollution, cigarette smoke, car exhaust, and so much more. When you open windows or walk into your house you bring these things in. They float in the air and settle on your carpet and other surfaces. Shoes are a major carpet contaminator, especially when they have just come from outside. There are also pollutants coming from inside your house, such as pet dander, dust mites, and even from your heating/air conditioning system that have not recently been cleaned. A good carpet cleaning can eliminate those pollutants from your carpeting, not only giving you clean carpets but also helping those who suffer from allergies and asthma breathe better.

Are all carpet cleaning methods the same?

No, they are not. There are two primary methods used: Dry cleaning and hot water extraction. The most common type that homeowners experience is the extraction method, which is done with a small machine or truck mount extraction. This means the large cleaning machine is mounted inside a truck or van. The process that All Clean ChemDry uses does not have to use excessive amounts of moisture to clean your carpet or upholstered items. All Clean ChemDry’s primary carpet cleaner contains no soaps, detergents or surfactants. Our carbonating solutions penetrate deep into the base of the carpet, literally exploding dirt and grime off of the fiber’s surface. Then we use hot water extraction to lift the dirty particles to the surface where they are whisked away.

Should I hire the company that offers the lowest price?

That is always up to you, we just want to make sure you have the facts when making that decision. You want to ensure that you are getting the same service for the best price, but there are two very important points you will want to consider.

Make sure you know exactly what is included in the price quotes you are getting. A thorough hot water extraction cleaning with pre-treatment, for example, is going to cost more than hiring someone who uses a small shampooer on your carpets. You need to understand how the methods clean compared to each other and the overall effects they have on your carpet.

Next, be wary of any super low advertised specials. This goes for any business, not just carpet cleaning. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Before you buy, be sure you know exactly what the offer includes and what it doesn’t include. This might mean how many rooms does it cover, the room size(s), etc.

Should I expect or insist on an exact price quote over the phone?

Not necessarily. If you want what’s best for your carpets and other fabrics, sometimes it is best for the professionals to look at and assess any stains or other problems before you can get an accurate quote. There are many factors that we take into consideration: different degrees of soiling, actual square footage, and other factors that can only be determined with an in-person quote. We do sometime give over-the-phone quotes as well. Each situation is different and we work with our clients to give them the best pricing to get their carpets cleaned.
